Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie looked back on the making of the classic thriller 'Don't Look Now' during a special screening at the 2023 Venice Film Festival

Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie mesmerized as a British married couple on an extended trip to Venice following a family tragedy in the 1973 English-language thriller film "Don't Look Now," directed by Nicolas Roeg.

The film premiered 50 years ago in London on 11 October 1973, and a restored version was screened at the 2023 Venice Film Festival. Sutherland and Christie attended the screening and participated in a Q&A session afterward.

During the Q&A, Sutherland recalled how he first stayed in Venice while shooting "Don't Look Now" and later returned to play Casanova in Federico Fellini's 1976 film of the same name.

Christie spoke about the challenges of filming in Venice, particularly the scenes involving water. She said that she had to learn to swim for the role and that she was often cold and wet during the shoot.

"Don't Look Now" is considered a classic of the thriller genre and is known for its atmospheric cinematography and suspenseful plot. The film has been praised for its depiction of grief, loss, and the supernatural.

The restored version of "Don't Look Now" was supervised by Roeg's widow, Sue Roe. It was screened at the Venice Film Festival as part of the Venice Classics section, which showcases restored classic films.
